Radio Helsinki is a free radio station. This means, that basically anyone who is interested can make their own show on a volunteer basis – under the following conditions:
completion of a basics-workshop (10 hours)
design of a sample show: this gives you the opportunity to apply what you have learned in the workshop in practice. During this stage you will be provided support by our trainers. The Program Board decides on admission to regular shows.
the regular broadcast: the program concept will be assessed by the council and then assigned to desired air time.
at Helsinki there is no room for any contents of racist, sexist and discriminatory sense.
members of political parties, interest groups, religious communities and people in public functions are not allowed to broadcast their shows at Helsinki
Prove courage to experiment: creativity as well as originality displayed throughout the program are particularly important to us. At Radio Helsinki, there are no formal requirements as to how the various shows should sound like. Free radio is just free from constraints of commercialization or the competition for radio audience: in this sense our radio sounds the way we want to frame it ourselves!
Especially welcome are individuals and groups who due to social marginalization or sexual and racial discrimination hardly or never get a word in edgeways in the media as well as people who deal with such issues critically!
Sign up either individually or as a group for our basic workshops or just come by to our headquarter at Schönaugasse 8, 8010 Graz.
