The next broadcast of Voices from Mytillini will be about the Greek musical movement known as Rebetiko, sometimes referred to as the “Greek blues”. It originated during the wave of migration as a result of the Greco-Turkish war, it become known as the music of the lost and downtrodden. In our conversation with our guest Yanni we will speak about the different aspects of the music through the lens of several Rebetiko songs he selected.

Citizen journalism at Radio Helsinki

We are people who are commonly called migrants and asylum seekers. We want to cross borders set by definitions and get in dialogue with communities, politics, the economy, social and cultural life.

The project informs citizens that migration is a complex, multidimensional phenomenon and a political issue that requires efforts and concrete actions by people and organisations/networks at all levels of society.
