Hello and welcome to this brand new year with a brand new series here on Radio Helsinki.
This is Lilly Vanilli of the cultural department and I proudly present the InideRE 2.0 broadcast.
For the next two years Radio Helsinki will take part in an international project called IndieRE – independent radio exchange, which is a continuation of a project of the same name that was realized between 2019 and 2022. The new INDIE RE continues to promote local urban music at a wider European level and Radio Helsinki will take part in this international project for the next two years.
8 European community radios will expand your musical horizons with a total of 88 broadcasts, presenting the current musical highlights of their respective intependent scene. And every week a special song will get special attention in the featured song-segment.
Keep your ears up as our musical exchange around Europe will start in February , and until then we will listen to some of the shows produced in the first IndieRE series.

Today we will listen to a broadcast by our IndieRE partners & friends from Radio Student in Ljubljana from summer of 2020, they will present some new acts from the Slovenian independent & underground scene.

Before that we have some time to spare, so let me jump into the IndieRE FEATURED SONG segment, which aims to present the latest & freshest of the local subculture music scene. The editor’s choice for this week went to a band from Vienna + Berlin, who released their debut via Vienna based label Urban Lurk just a few days ago. And because they stay in true punk spirit we can enjoy the whole 12 minutes of their release now.

IndieRE 2.0 – Independent Radio Exchange – is an extension of the project of the same name between 2019 and 2022. The new project continues to promote local urban music at a wider European level and to strengthen the competences of cultural workers in the field of music. It aims to enhance the cross-border exchange of non-commercial and independent music and to promote various lesser-known genres of European music.
8 European community radios & networks will expand your musical horizon with a total of 88 broadcasts, presenting musical highlights of their respective independent scene & a unique song gets special attention with the “featured song” segment.
Listen up as our musical exchange around Europe will start in February & tune in and support your local subculture scene!
Until the new project-series starts we will listen back to some of the broadcasts of the former projects.
